8th Annual Tax Decompression Ride, 22-Apr-2007

Boys and Girls, what a beautiful day for the 2007 Tax Decompression Ride to Central City. We had 5 roadsters and two Z cars meet up at the Jefferson Co. Bldg at 6th and 1-70 and we cruised up 58 to 119 into Black Hawk and on to Central City.

Car’s lined up in the Central City Parking lot from left to Right - Gary Lasater’s yellow 70 2000, Greg Cheers 70 1600, Ray Horrall’s maroon 68 2000, Jim McGinnis’s cooper 70 1600, Bob Bragg’s pearl white 68 2000, John’s Over’s 71 240 Z (yeah the 68 is still under reconstruction), and John’s friend Daniel Bailin driving a 73 240z, L-28 with triple webers.

We had a great lunch in Central City then headed back via the new 4 lane road to 1-70 from Central City. Great run down the hill with all the cars whirling past everyone else.

Little side story, coming home, Gary L spun off at Santa Fe due to a wreck on E470 and while cruising down Highlands Ranch Parkway, a gentleman in a Honda Accord SsC coupe with a nice throaty exhaust system (don’t know what else was under the hood), thought he had a faster car than our 2000’s---- NOT. Didn’t know he really wanted to go at it, until at the light he gunned it, and I decided to accommodate the challenge. Running in first gear, sounded like he had to shift at 6000, cause I was still gaining RPM and speed up to 7000 and grabbed some squeal out of the tires going for 2nd. At 3rd gear I was a good car plus ahead of him and but we had to slow down for traffic, so he tucked it under and took his whoopin’. Another one bites the dust to the dynamic Datsuns.
