5th Annual Tax Decompression Ride, Apr 17, 2004

Jack Davis added: The first run of the season was a success. 6 cars and 11 owners made it for the first ride of 2004. Tom Hoagland, Dave Riesek, Gary Lasater, Dan and Bonnie Neff, Mark McCafferty, and Greg Cheer brought their roadsters while Mike Pieczarka, Add Hulse, Tom Nash, Jack & Chris Davis arrived roadsterless at the Garden of the Gods visitor center. We had to watch with envy as the 6 cars took off for their run through Woodland Park & Deckers.
Gary Lasater said: For those of you who are still working on getting your car on the road, go for it. The Tax Decompression run did allow all to decompress and burn up some asphalt. There was some fun heading up the road between Woodlawn Park and Deckers, where a hot (so he thought) biker, got handed his tail (pipes), after see the power and handling of the all powerful roadsters. Thanks to those non-drivers who showed up. We hope to see you soon on the road. By the way, even a Prowler owner stopped and admired the cars at the Visitor center.
Greg Cheer said: I had a great time on saturday, even though I couldn't keep up with the other five... like I told a guy we were talking to... I was along for the ride..... Gary,Mark,Dave, and Tom were along for the RACE !!!!!!!!!!!!.. Can't wait til mine will do well over 100!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully we can do this again next month, with more than 6 cars...I would really like to see, maybe 13-15, or more at one of the future rides this summer...
Dave Riesek pontificated: was a great ride and many thanks to Dan
for getting everyone's "tires kicked" enough to make it happen!
... many of us want to keep "kicking the tires" to get people
out....... this ride was cool stuff. ... several of the reasons to
show-up that you may not have thought of are as follows:
1. one guy found who owns and is willing to sell a great set of
seats for his ride,
2. one guy found a great set of bumpers,
3. one guy found (and had help fixing) a fuel distribution
problem then had 100 miles to test it,
4. one guy (will save hundreds) discovering a local (WYCROC'er)
who rebuilds SU's,
5. one guy found a sought after grill,
6. one guy may have discovered a 5 minute solution to an age-old
clutch adjustment,
7. one guy (&gal) may have a place-to-start with their recent
electric problem.
Again, for my 2c worth, this event was testiment to the knowledge base
and resources that exist within WYCROC. many of the on-going
discussions and stories swapped began to solve some of the simple
fixes it takes to get-on-the-road!!
