Mt.Evans Run 29-Jul-2001 The
highest roadster club/meet in the World?
The highest roadster club/meet in the World? Well, we think so!!
We had 6 roadsters make the summit of Mt.Evans at 14,264 feet!!
Several years ago TDROCers had performed this feat, and were planning
to join us this year, but couldn't make it as a club. TDROCers Terry
and Andy Cost however DID make it and joined WyCROCers for this run!
Jack Davis sez:

Lasater, Greg Cheer, Mark McCafferty, Jack Davis, and Eric & Michelle
Frisbee)
The trip up Mt. Evans was fun. Traffic wasn't too bad but we did have
to follow some very slow cars. A bummer when you have twisties to run!
When we went by the gift shop at the entrance to Mt. Evans there were
a bunch of Corvettes in the parking lot. They started to arrive at the
summit just AFTER we got parked. The parking lot at the summit was
packed. Some of the more energetic people walked up the trail to the
peak. I stayed behind to guard the roadsters
Well, Andy and I are back from the Run to the Rockies. I want to
thank all the WyCROC'ers who came by to say hello at the autocross,
and again at the barbeque. My gray ghost decided to quit running at
Saturday's autocross in Denver, and we couldn't fix it quickly, so we
loaded it on the trailer and finished the run towing it with my
suburban. The ride to the top of Mt Evans was exciting. I may have
towed the first car trailer and roadster to over 14,000 feet, a
record, I'm sure. I felt a little like an MGB owner for the rest of
the trip, carrying my car around broken. Or a lotus owner, maybe. At
least it isn't the electrics. There isn't any gas getting to the
carbs after about 15 minutes of running. Possibly junk in the pickup
tube of the tank, or maybe fuel lines, or vapor lock. I'll know more
when I take a few things apart.
