'68 2000 owned by John Over.
John bought his '68 2000 and joined WyCROC in May 2003. He's already rebuilt the engine and got it running smoothly with Solexes.
Mar 8, 2009, as John wraps up his SR20DET conversion:
I spent the day preparing the Roadster for its first trip around the
block since Aug 2005. It runs nice and smooth, builds boost at a low
rpm but needs tuning. I think the bypass valve needs adjustment.
Next weekend Tom Hoagland will assist with final tuning issues using
Nissan's factory software. Then comes tires, an alignment, and
whatever slight mechanical details and cosmetic fixes I can get done
before April. I am planning on attending the Solvang show even though
the car is crusty, rough around the edges and the paint is a 20+
footer. At least it is all one color.
Mar 18, he added:
I took the turbo Roadster out for a spin tonight. After fixing an
exhaust side cam that was one tooth out of time the car came alive.
It is crazy fast. V8 power plus. The turbo spools up around 2700 rpm
( I don't have a tach hooked up yet) and pulls hard to redline. After
catching second gear it spools with no lag and you're off again. I
still have a grin on my face. I have wiring to sanitize, need tires,
an alignment and some last minute cosmetics before the Solvang trip.
However, I will be more motivated to finish that now that I know the
car is basically sound. I just wanted to let you all know the good
news!
